We are deeply saddened to share the unexpected passing of Jim Bernhard, founder of Bernhard Capital Partners (BCP), the parent company of SMSI. Jim was a visionary leader and a force of nature whose guiding belief — “the best has no equal” — shaped everything he built and inspired generations leaders.
Jim transformed industries, communities, and countless lives throughout the course of his life. His unwavering commitment to excellence, his high standards, and his passion for helping others reach their full potential continue to live on in the people he mentored, the companies he built, and the enduring values that define BCP today.
